The mirror

This perilous path
Touching eager tender steps
Downward to the unimaginable
Place of bliss and oblivion
How many pieces must we cast
To build the mountain
Tall enough to fill the expanse
So hungry to feed its own purpose
What flavor or fragrance
What cuvée or crü
What cask or coastal breeze
What hands so humble to pluck
Mighty silent monoliths
Casting their judgment and glare
As we gaze back
Seeing only ourselves in the liquid
Noble rot exalted
To light in extension
Color ways
Less incandescently employed
Facing
The mirror
